About the Jewish Day of Shabbat Nachamu

DESCRIPTION:
Shabbat Nachamu commemorates the comfort experienced during suffering of the Jewish people in the time of Isaiah. Shabbat is 'Sabbath' or 'Saturday' in Hebrew. This is the first of the seven Sabbaths in which haftarot (readings from the Book of Prophets) are performed leading up to the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah.
The Jewish Shabbat begins at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday.
